Students at Honey Island Elementary School amassed a colossal copper collection and now the school's library is 1-million pennies _ $10,000 _ richer.
"One-million sure is a lot," 7-year-old Ashley Harrison said Monday as guards loaded more than 200 30-pound bags of pennies into an armored car.
The kids have been rounding up pennies since March 1991. They scrounged around their houses for loose pennies and lobbied businesses. If someone donated a dollar, Soehnlein took it to the bank for change.
The class that got the most each month won a pizza party.
