Local band heats up stage as first fest act

When Citiheat opens the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, you'll hear a variety of tunes from the big band sound of the '40s and the contemporary sound of jazz fusion.

This is Citiheat's seventh performance at the Clearwater festival. They are the house band at Brothers Lounge in Tampa, and they also perform at a number of festivals and concerts throughout the year. They have opened for such artists as Grover Washington Jr., David Benoit, Ramsey Lewis and Special EFX.

In 1991, the band released its first album, Heat of the City, which featured nine of their original songs.

In live performances, Citiheat plays original compositions along with cover songs from Al Jarreau, Spyro Gyra, Duke Ellington and David Sanborn.

The musicians in Citiheat are Marshall D. Gillon, vocalist and percussionist; Jerry Kenney, alto saxophone; Robin Foreman, keyboards and vocals; Curtis Weeks, drums; and Dave Lowrey, bass guitar.

Citiheat wrote and performed the theme song for the Q-Zoo in the Morning television and radio show for WRBQ-FM 104.7.
