Tip from drug hot line leads to teen's arrest

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Monday on charges of marijuana cultivation and possession after a search of his Shady Hills home one week ago. Sheriff's Office deputies, acting on a tip made through a drug hot line, found two marijuana plants on the property and marijuana and paraphernalia inside the home. The teen, whose name has been withheld because he is a minor, was released to his mother. The drug hot line number is (800) 741-DOPE.

Man, 53, charged

with arranging sex

PORT RICHEY _ A 53-year-old St. Petersburg man has been accused of arranging sex between two teens and then watching as the minors had intercourse. According to Sheriff's Office reports, the girl, 15, told authorities the man solicited her and the boy, 16, to engage in sex with each other sometime in June. She also said the man, who has a custodial or familial relationship with her, sexually touched her that day and several days later. The girl reported the alleged incidents, all of which happened in Port Richey, through a school resource officer. The man was arrested Monday. His name has been withheld to protect the girl's identity.
