Area players continue football educations

Here's a look at how college football players with Citrus County ties are faring this season.

DIVISION I

Brad Breedlove (Lecanto), Duke, WR, 5-11, 170, Jr.

Breedlove, still nursing a thigh injury, played sparingly in the Blue Devils' 45-14 win over East Carolina, fielding one punt for a 1-yard return. Totals: seven catches for 117 yards, nine kickoff returns for 265 yards, two punt returns for 6 yards. This Saturday, at Clemson.

Bryant Brooks (Crystal River), Kansas State, TB, 6-1, 215, Fr.

Brooks, a redshirt freshman, did not play in the Wildcats' 31-7 loss at Kansas. Totals: three carries for 4 yards. This Saturday, at Utah State.

Charlie Dean (Citrus), Florida, DE, 6-2, 225, Jr.

Dean saw action on 10 plays, mainly on special teams, in Florida's 28-21 win over Louisiana State. Totals: 1 tackle. This Saturday, vs. Auburn.

Monty Grow (Citrus), Florida, LB, 6-3, 220, Sr.

Grow, a starter, had three solo tackles, five assists and one tackle for a loss in the Gators' 28-21 win over Louisiana State. Totals: 29 tackles (14 solo, 15 assisted), two sacks, three tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, one fumble caused. This Saturday, vs. Auburn.

Shaun Jackson (Citrus), Minnesota, WR, 6-1, 176, So.

Jackson, a second-string flanker, made his first career catch, for 7 yards, in the Golden Gophers' 24-20 loss at Purdue. Totals: one catch for 7 yards. This Saturday, vs. Michigan State.

DIVISION I-AA

Rick Hamilton (Citrus), Central Florida, LB, 6-2, 215, Sr.

The Knights were idle on Saturday. Totals: 49 tackles (29 solo, 20 assisted), one sack, one interception, one blocked field goal. This Saturday, vs. Nicholls State.

NAIA

Russ Baldner (Crystal River), Lenoir-Rhyne, FB, 5-11, 225, Sr.

Baldner carried six times for 7 yards Saturday in a 52-17 loss to Gardner-Webb that dropped Lenoir-Rhyne's record to 2-3. Totals: 29 carries for 59 yards rushing and one touchdown, five catches for 42 yards. This Saturday, at Wingate.
