Mike Tolisano holds his cats, Vinny and Izzy, after he came home for lunch and found his apartment building in St. Petersburg on fire Wednesday afternoon. It took 17 firefighters about 15 minutes to get the blaze at 1731 34th Ave. N under control, said St. Petersburg District Fire Chief Robert Polk. The fire, which was confined to the second floor of the two-story apartment building, began at 12:36 p.m., Polk said. The fire caused "pretty extensive" fire damage and began in a bedroom used as a storage area, Polk said. No people or animals were injured.
