The day before her body was found, Dawn Doreen Debinder climbed onto the back of a man's low-slung Harley Davidson motorcycle at a nightclub in Tampa.

It was 4 a.m. Sept. 16, and the St. Petersburg woman had just finished working the night shift as an exotic dancer at 2001 A Tampa Odyssey. She left the club on N Dale Mabry with the motorcyclist.

About 2 p.m. the next day, a fisherman found Debinder's nude body. It was jammed under concrete pipes and debris along the shore of the Gandy Bridge causeway in Pinellas County.

In an attempt to piece together the last hours of the 18-year-old woman's life, Pinellas sheriff's detectives investigating her murder are trying to find the motorcyclist who gave Debinder a ride from the club.

"We are not calling him a suspect," sheriff's spokeswoman Marianne Pasha said Wednesday. "We feel like if we can talk to him, we can close the gap between the last time we can place her somewhere alive and her death. We'd like to ask him some questions."

Detectives believe the man was not a regular visitor to the club. He was described as white, in his early to mid-30s and about 5 feet 10. He weighs about 175 pounds and has dark, collar-length hair.

When he gave Debinder a ride, the motorcyclist was wearing a dark vest over a T-shirt and jeans. Pasha said they drove south on Dale Mabry after leaving the club on a low-profile, Harley Davidson with thick tires.

The investigation of the murder has been difficult because Debinder, who was not married and had no children, led a transient lifestyle.

She often lived with friends in the St. Petersburg area or stayed at motels for a few days.

"She had no permanent address," Pasha said. "We can now say with certainty that she was a prostitute in Pinellas. We've learned she also was active in Tampa and Manatee County, too."

An employee at the 2001 A Tampa Odyssey club said Debinder periodically danced at the club and worked the 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. shift but knew little about her.
