HUGHES RUDD, 71, former CBS News correspondent, whose career stretched from Moscow and Berlin to a tumultuous stint on the CBS Morning News, died Tuesday at the University of Toulouse (France) hospital. He died from complications caused by an aneurism in his aorta, CBS said. He had undergone surgery for the condition last summer. Mr. Rudd's career at CBS spanned 20 years. Before his stint on the Morning News, his beats included Moscow and Berlin. Mr. Rudd, with a distinctively gravel-laden voice, anchored the Morning News from 1973-1977.
