Jim Leyland, his eyes ringed in crimson, walked in his socks down an exhaust-filled tunnel. He walked away from the silence and toward the chants and the screams, the tortuous sounds of victory, until he saw Braves manager Bobby Cox. They shook hands and hugged and Leyland's jaw quivered and he swallowed hard.
"Congratulations, you deserved it," he told Cox.
"So did you, Jimmy," Cox said. "I don't know what to say."
