Osceola's Wheeler stymies Dunedin

Osceola 5, Dunedin 1: Pitcher Ken Wheeler threw seven shutout innings while giving up two hits Monday as the Astros downed the Blue Jays in Kissimmee.

Wheeler relieved starter Brian Holliday in the third inning and went the rest of the way, striking out three.

Designated hitter Ruben Cruz and shortstop Perry Berry drove in two runs each for the Astros.

The Blue Jays return home tonight to face the West Palm Beach Expos at 7.


Vero Beach 4, St. Petersburg 1: Designated hitter Lonnie Webb hit his second home run of the year to lead the Dodgers over visiting St. Petersburg.

Right-hander Kiki Jones (1-2) picked up his first win of the season by striking out five and allowing only three hits. Chris Sinacori got his first save.

First baseman Doug Radziewicz went 2-for-3 with a double for the Cardinals (20-17). Duff Brumley (5-1) struck out nine but took the loss.
