The Rev. James Rosenburg is the new minister of George Young Memorial United Methodist Church at 2801 East Lake Road. He was born in Texas in 1950, the son of a United Methodist minister.
He received a degree in psychology from West Texas State University and a master of theology degree from Perkin's School of Theology. He has served churches in Arkansas, Louisiana and Florida. He has worked in special capacities for the denomination on local and district levels.
Rosenburg and his wife, the former Pamela Huston, have two children, Ryan, 13, and Sarah, 11. Call 784-9250.
Seminole pastor moves to new church in Port Charlotte
SEMINOLE _ Members of Seminole United Methodist Church recently honored the Rev. J. Ralph Burton Jr. and his wife, Ilene, at a reception celebrating Burton's seven years as senior minister of the church. He is moving to a new appointment as senior pastor of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.
During Burton's service in Seminole, he taught comprehensive Bible study and the congregation began annual Lenten lunch/meditation programs, observed the church's centennial in 1990, burned the mortgage, refurbished the sanctuary, became a host site for the SHARE food purchase program and began a Hispanic United Methodist congregation, which worships in the chapel and shares the facilities.
Burton has served as pastor in Florida churches for 27 years and has been a member of the conference's board of trustees and has served as supervising pastor for the Board of Ordained Ministry. Call 391-9781.
