Fourth of July festivities planned

Gay Culverhouse will marshal the 1993 July Fourth parade in Temple Terrace. This year the parade will take place on Saturday, July 3.

The parade will kick off at 10 a.m., winding its way down 56th Street to Riverhills Park off Riverhills Drive.

Later in the day, Benny Boom Boom's Little Big Band will perform at Riverhills Park, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mel's Hot Dogs will begin cooking hot dogs at 5:30 p.m.

The fireworks display will start at 9 p.m. at Riverhills Park.

The show will take 30 minutes, event chairman Ann Dowdy said. "There are more shells than last year. The best viewing will be at Riverhills Park."

It was decided to eliminate the usual festivities in the park after the parade, Dowdy said; "Attendance was too low last year to support it."

Parade applications are still being accepted. For information, call Marty Streeper at 988-0737.
