Denver Nuggets assistant Gene Littles withdrew Monday as a candidate for the Los Angeles Clippers coaching job.
"With the NBA draft approaching quickly, I am very focused on helping build the Nuggets," Littles said in a statement. "We have a good, young team here and I am very comfortable with my situation and the direction this team is headed."
The Clippers are seeking a replacement for Larry Brown, who resigned May 20. They obtained permission to interview Littles last week.
Petrovic memorial: A memorial Mass was held for Drazen Petrovic at St. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in New York, one week after he was killed in an automobile accident in Germany. The night was to honor the memory of the New Jersey Nets guard and the international star who died at age 28. The front pews were filled with Petrovic's NBA teammates, Nets executives _ including vice president Willis Reed and coach Chuck Daly _ and the league's hierarchy, led by commissioner David Stern.
Cavaliers: Gerald Madkins, the CBA rookie of the year, was signed to a contract. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
