Tampa

Air Force Airman Dylan D. Sliwkoski recently graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training he studied Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Sliwkoski is the son of David D. Sliwkoski of Tampa and a graduate of Hillsborough Adult High School.

Marine Lance Cpl. Glenn A. Stone was recently promoted to his present rank while serving with Headquarters, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan. Stone is the son of Wayne A. and Debbie L. Stone of Tampa and a graduate of Gaither High School.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Sebra E. Williams was recently decorated with the Air Force Commendation Medal. The medal is awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service for the performance of their duties on behalf of the Air Force. Williams, an operations quality assurance sergeant, is the daughter of Jene J. Williams of Tampa and Doris M. Williams of Louisiana.

Plant City

Air Force Airman Galeasia L. Carter recently graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Air Force 2nd Lt. Kevin D. Humphrey recently completed undergraduate missile training at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Lompoc, Calif. The training included the responsibilities and weapon technical procedures necessary to perform duties as a crewmember involved with the Minuteman II, Peacekeeper ICBM or Minuteman III. Humphrey is the son of Lloyd A. and Mildred V. Humphrey of Plant City and a graduate of Plant High School and the University of South Florida.

Army Pvt. 1st Class William S. Mitchell recently graduated from the Army Northern Warfare Training Center at Fort Greely, Big Delta, Alaska. The course trains infantry companies to conduct tactical winter operations in extreme cold and mountainous regions. The emphasis is on over-snow mobility, the effects of cold on personnel and material, winter field skills and individual, squad and platoon tactical operations. Mitchell, an infantryman, is the son of Roger E. and Anne H. Mitchell of Plant City and a graduate of Plant City High School.

Elbert M. Womble was recently promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of airman. Womble, an apprentice avionics systems specialist, is a graduate of Plant City High School.
