Josh Stewart: French award
Josh Stewart, a freshman at Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, was named a United States National Award winner in French.
He was nominated by his French teacher, John Landis.
Stewart is a member of the varsity soccer team, a winner in the AA Division state championships this year. Stewart will be a sophomore in the fall.
He is the son of John and Maxine Stewart of New Port Richey and the grandson of Norm and Millie Stewart of Longboat Key and Edward and Teddy Chandler of Melbourne Beach.
HUDSON _ Angela Beltz, a junior at Florida State University in Tallahassee, has been named to the dean's list for the 1993 spring term.
Miss Beltz, daughter of Terry and Jeanne Beltz of Hudson, is a 1990 graduate of Hudson High School and a 1992 graduate of Pasco Hernando Community College. She is majoring in fashion merchandising.
PORT RICHEY _ William F. Capobianco III of Port Richey was named to the president's list for the spring semester at Methodist College, Fayetteville, N.C.
A student must achieve at least a 3.7 grade point average with 12 or more semester hours of course work to be named to the president's list. This is the equivalent to an "A" average.
PORT RICHEY _ Jennifer Koop, daughter of Rick and Marilyn Koop of Port Richey, recently graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., with a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
She is employed by Calvin College in the computer center as a computer center support coordinator.
Auxiliary Chapter 527:
HUDSON _ Awards for the Air Force Sergeant's Association Auxiliary Chapter 527 of West Pasco and West Hernando and Pinellas counties were announced at a recent convention in Orlando.
Awards were for the Chapter of the Year with membership over 250; Humanitarian Auxiliary Chapter with membership over 250; Veterans Administration Volunteer Service Person of the Year, Auxiliary Member of the Year Juanita Boan, scrapbook, first place with membership over 250; Auxiliary Chapter Recruiting Awards for Year and membership drive, recruiter of the year and recruiter for membership drive, both given to Annette Nelson of Hudson; and Coordinator's Award to Annette Nelson. The chapter auxiliary is now eligible for consideration in the International Awards presentations.
Delta Kappa Gamma:
NEW PORT RICHEY _ Two new members of Delta Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an international honorary teachers organization, were initiated recently at a Founder's Day Program at the Sheraton Inn.
The teachers are Jeanette Luman of Seven Springs Elementary School and RoseAnn Verheyen, Gulf Middle School.
The chapter presented Angela Marie Mahon, a River Ridge High School senior, with a $500 recruitment grant to pursue her studies toward a degree in education.
Sara Gibson was scholarship chairman. Wanda Detlefesen, a River Ridge teacher and former president of the chapter, made the presentation.
