Boy's alleged sex victims total four

A 10-year-old boy accused of raping two boys last week may have victimized two girls earlier this year, police said Wednesday.

News of an alleged rape on Friday at Tanglewood Apartments in Brooksville led the parent of another child to come forward, said police Lt. Terry Chapman.

In the course of checking out that complaint, investigators came across another alleged rape, Chapman said.

The girls, ages 2 and 8, would bring to four the number of children whom the 10-year-old is accused of molesting.

"A 10-year-old with this kind of behavior is not normal," Chapman said. "All steps will be taken to get him evaluated and see what the problem is. We've got a kid who needs help."

The suspect is being held at a state juvenile detention center in Ocala. He has not yet been charged with crimes involving the girls.

The girls who say the boy molested them live in the same general area as the other children, Chapman said.

One is believed to have been victimized in January or February. Investigators are trying to figure out when the other incident took place.

The girls were scheduled to visit a doctor on Wednesday and today, respectively.

Their names, along with those of the other children, are not being published to protect their privacy.

The 10-year-old boy already faces two charges of sexual battery over an incident last Friday.

According to investigators, he raped two boys, ages 3 and 5, who lived near him and were left at home in the evening by their mother. She has been charged with two counts of child abuse and neglect.

The 10-year-old also is suspected of having forced those two boys to engage in sexual contact with each other, police records show.

Earlier this week, the boy's mother said she wasn't sure what had happened at the nearby apartment complex that evening, but that she couldn't believe her son was capable of such heinous acts.

He often got in fights at school, she said, especially during the most recent school year, when he seemed particularly angry.

But he had never shown signs of sexual aggression, she said.
