Pasco Aquatics awash in ribbons

The Pasco Aquatics team competed at the Bobby Hicks Memorial in Tampa against 16 other area swim teams and came home with numerous ribbons. Linda Stewart and Clay Ward coach Pasco Aquatics.

The boys results:

Jonathan Sewell, 7, came in sixth in the 50-meter butterfly and eighth in the freestyle. Kevin Rumble, 9, earned a first in the 50-meter breaststroke, thirds in the 100-, 50- and 200-meter freestyles, third in the 50-meter backstroke and 100-meter breaststroke, fourth in the 200-meter medley, and fifth in the 100-meter backstroke. Peter DeGroff, 11, was eighth in the 50-meter back, 100-meter fly and 100-meter breaststroke.

In the 13-14 age group, Abe Stewart captured first in the 200-meter free and the 100-meter breaststroke, second in the 100-meter freestyle, third in the 200-meter back, fourth in the 100-meter back, and fifth in the 50-meter freestyle.

Dan Kettlety captured third in the 200-meter freestyle, fourth in the 200-meter individual medley and 50- and 100-meter freestyles, and sixth in the 100-meter breaststroke.

John Holme finished sixth in the 100-meter backstroke and eighth in the 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter freestyle.

In the seniors (15 and over) Ryan Bried took first in the 200-meter back and second in the 200-meter individual medley.

Jason Hansen finished seventh in the 400-meter individual medley and eighth in the 200-meter breaststroke.

The top girls finishers:

In the 10-and-under group, Lindsey Hansen was second in the 50-meter breaststroke, fifth in the 100-meter freestyle, and sixth in the 100-meter back.

In the 11-12 group, Kimberly Rumble had the best day of all with a first-place finish overall. She captured firsts in the 100-meter freestyle, 50-meter breaststroke, 200-meter individual medley, 100-meter fly and 100-meter breast, seconds in the 400-meter free, 100-meter back and 200-meter freestyle, and third in the 50-meter fly.

Anne Stewart had third-place finishes in the 50-meter back and 200-meter free, took fourth in the 100-meter free and backstroke, and fifth in the 50-meter fly and 200-meter individual medley. Julie Muckler finished fifth in the 200-meter free and took eighth in the 100-meter free.

In the 13-14 group, Sarah Kettley grabbed third in the 200-meter back. Kiera Coote finished third in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke, fourth in the 100-meter fly and 300-meter IM, and fifth in the 100-meter back.

Allisson Bittiker came home with a second in the 50-meter free and 100- and 200-meter backstroke, and a fourth in the 100-meter freestyle.

Senior Jennifer Loveland came in fourth in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke and eighth in the 100-meter fly.

Tricia Clark was eighth in the 200-meter breaststroke.

Dixie softball results: The Lightning upset the Dazzlers 22-21, thanks in part to the Sheetz sisters. Brittany Sheetz closed the season batting .600 to lead the team. Little sister Ashley Sheetz started the season barely swinging the bat, but closed at .529 to finish a close second on the team. Jennifer Berry also performed well at the plate. The Lightning went through four pitchers to earn the win and a 5-15 record. Starting was Amber Slate, followed by Cassie Creswell, Brittany Sheetz and Jamie Fryer.

The Vipers ended the season 13-7 after being shut out by the Heartbreakers 6-0. Bijal Parikh went the distance on the mound while Dyneka Marteli accounted for the only base hit.

In the Ponytails Division, Brandy Krieg's two triples and two singles helped the Bombers beat the Bandits 18-12. Therese Antonetti and Kim Flatley both went 3-for-4 in a game where the whole team hit well. Vanna Larson and Flatley both pitched a strong game. Bandits Misty Balough and Angel Rameika were defensive MVPs.

The Tidal Wave swept the Purple Panthers, thanks in part to another outstanding game from ace pitcher Lisa Hair. She faced 15 batters, fanning 11 of them and allowing no runs in the 13-2 victory. Reliever Christen Feagles came in to close the game. Leading the offense for the Wave were Shelly Weist, Melissa Billman, Liz Barton and Meghan Leonard.

West Pasco registration: The West Pasco Dixie Girls Softball League will hold registration for the fall league June 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Field in Veterans Village.

The league will be "instructional" and is open to all girls 6-18 years old. The fee is $20 and includes insurance and uniform. After June 19, girls can register nightly at the field. For more information, call 372-1076 or 376-1319.
