Dade City man charged in vehicular homicide

A 22-year-old Dade City man was charged Friday with vehicular homicide for what detectives say was his reckless driving in a December crash that killed a 21-year-old Ridge Manor man. Jimmie Dale Boyd was being held Friday evening in the county jail in Land O'Lakes in lieu of $15,000 bail. The affidavit for his arrest said Boyd had been driving his 1992 Ford Mustang west on County Road 575 at more than 100 mph when he lost control. The car became airborne and struck two trees. His passenger, Chad Bluebaugh, was thrown from the car and killed. A blood test showed Boyd's blood-alcohol content at 0.129 percent, above the 0.10 level at which Florida law presumes impairment.

Judge won't reduce bail for Issac Johnson

Issac Johnson remained in jail Friday after a judge refused to lower his bail. The Pasco High standout athlete has remained at Central Pasco Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 bail since June 5 when he turned himself in to authorities on charges of violating his probation on a robbery charge. Retired Circuit Judge Edward Bergstrom denied a request by Johnson's attorney, John Carballo, to reduce the bail to $5,000. On Thursday, Carballo entered a plea on Johnson's behalf denying the probation violation charges. A trial was scheduled for July 22. Johnson was the quarterback for Pasco's state champion football team.

Correction

A photo caption in Friday's Pasco Times gave an incorrect first name for Assistant Public Defender John Carballo.
