East Bay High cites its top musicians

Christine Costello and Erin Long played Bach's Sonata No. 4 for flute and piano as part of the entertainment at the East Bay High School music awards banquet for the school's band and chorus recently.

Sarah Jacobs and Kristie Cordell sang Forever Friends and Edwin Gierbolini joined Cordell to sing Pray for Me as a tribute to the seniors as part of the program's entertainment.

Honored as all-state chorus members were Jacobs, Gierbolini, Melanie Vogel, Marzena Daneki and Billy Klear. Honored as all-county band members were Costello, Tami Maifert and Michael Lazzaroni and as all-county chorus members Brian McComak, Amy Gibson, Lyle Alexis and Jose Berrios.

Best musician awards went to Crystal Bell for band, Jacobs for chorus and Long for Sounds of Time.

Daniel Stewart, Karen Youngs, Heather Gould and Alexis were given special director awards for chorus and for band. The same awards went to Owen LaFave, Michael and Christine Costello and Kevin Pigott.

Foursome wins at golf

Terry Lynch, Bill Price, Marty Marra and Bill Hermanns were the members of the winning foursome in the fifth annual Ruskin Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament earlier this month. More than 100 people played in the fund-raiser.

Members of the second-place team were Jerry Sheppard, Dan Morgan, Fran Cummings and John Perkins. In third place were John Cregier, Marty Bloom, David Lackman and David Hubbell.

Bill Price won the prize for getting closest-to-the-pin. David Lackman had the longest drive. Paul Duva won the putting contest. Tom Werle won the chipping contest.

Scholarship is awarded

East Bay High School graduating senior Sherry T. Phillips was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the members of the Xi Mu Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi recently during special ceremonies.

Phillips will attend Hillsborough Community College in the fall.
