Hopefuls to be judged

The Judicial Nominating Commission is scheduled to interview seven candidates Monday for the circuit judge position being vacated by William Edwards. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. in Edwards' courtroom in the new county courthouse. The interviews begin at 9 a.m. and are open to the public. The commission will deliberate privately and select several names to recommend to Gov. Lawton Chiles.

Man held in stabbing

FLORAL CITY _ A 20-year-old Floral City man was charged Friday with aggravated battery in the stabbing of another man during a fight Thursday. Michael Jason McCoy, 20, of 82865 Vine Ter., was held Friday in Citrus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail after being arrested at his home about 5 a.m. Curt Bray was stabbed in the left side during the fight.

Anchor store announced

BEVERLY HILLS _ Porter's Do-It Center will be added to the 28-store lineup at Golden Gate Shopping Center, under construction on County Road 491, said Jim Kellner of Kellner Construction and Development Corp. Porter's will join Kash n' Karry as anchor stores at the 30-acre site. Construction will be done by the end of January, Kellner said.

Report cards ready

CRYSTAL RIVER _ Crystal River High School students or their parents may pick up final report cards in the school's guidance office Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The report cards will not be mailed.
