Courtney Llewellyn allowed five hits, walked four and fanned five as Seminole downed Baypoint 16-4 in a winners bracket game of the District 5 Majors softball City Tournament Thursday night.
Seminole played Meadowlawn in a semifinal game Friday night.
Llewellyn also helped spark the offense by going 3-for-3 and scoring three runs. Jackie Civello matched those numbers while Vickie Hometcko scored three runs and played strong defense. Holly Groves contributed with an inside-the-park homer, and Asya Gordon had a double.
For Baypoint, Heather Ratliff collected three hits, including a double, and Tammy Newton added a triple. Deidre Favero had two hits, and Katey Breland and Jeanine Skinner each had singles.
In other action, Kristin Kravitz threw a no-hitter and struck out 12 of 20 batters over five innings as Meadowlawn blanked Gulf Beaches 21-0.
Kravitz also sparked the offense, knocking in five runs with a double and single. Chelsea McClellan and Beth Poling each knocked in three runs, and Laurie Trafford, Abbie Haugh, Stacey Cabral and Ashleigh Lutz added key hits.
Majors baseball (ages 10-12): Stevie Weick threw a one-hitter as Gulf Beaches defeated Southwest 10-0 in a losers-bracket game Thursday night.
Weick had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning before it was broken up with a clean single. He struck out 11. Mike MaGee had three hits to boost the offense.
Intermediates (age 13): John Cleckner tossed a three-hitter as Seminole blanked Northeast 7-0 in a winners-bracket game Thursday night. Jeff Arcand, Brian Lake, Patrick Osborne and Phil Curto provided key hits.
In another winners-bracket game, Tearo'l Green picked up the win as Gulfport edged Azalea 8-7.
Minors baseball (ages 9-12): Ben Barber tossed a no-hitter and struck out six as Azalea defeated Meadowlawn 16-0 in a losers-bracket game Thursday night.
Barber didn't allow a runner past second base while only walking four. Eric Luttmann, Karl Joyner, Michael Groeski, Tom Murray, Dustin Petryneic and David Anderson had key hits.
In another winners-bracket game, Chris Lachance hit a two-out, two-strike single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Seminole National an 8-7 win over Cross Bayou No. 1.
Michael Poli had four hits for Seminole National, and Mike Sittloh picked up the pitching victory.
Jacon Jansen had a double for Cross Bayou.
Also in the winners bracket, Chris Johain pitched four innings and fanned five as Baypoint No. 2 upended Northeast No. 1 11-1.
Aaron Meltzer sparked the offense with a double among his two hits, while Chris Farrell, Joe McKenney and Billy Tidwell added two hits apiece.
Alan Triplett knocked in five runs and had three hits as Cross Bayou No. 2 edged Seminole No. 1 12-11 in another winners-bracket game.
Manny Wilson pitched six innings to get the win, and T.J. Peets knocked in the winning run with a single for the second straight game. Lucas Bonner played strong defense.
Seniors baseball (ages 13-15): Kyle Corman tossed a four-hitter and fanned 10 as Seminole upended Cross Bayou 7-5 in a winners-bracket game Thursday night.
Joe Paollilo and Josh Walker had two hits apiece, while Brad Logan and Mike Thornhill added key hits.
In another winners-bracket game, Ryan Watts had a double and picked up the win as Gulfport downed Pinellas Park National 10-5. Sam Copeland had five hits and Jevon Wright added a triple.
Seniors softball (ages 13-15): Kelly King fanned eight as Gulfport defeated Pinellas Park National 36-3 in a winners-bracket game Thursday night.
Also in the winners bracket, Caley Parker struck out seven as Azalea upset Seminole 10-6. Cristy Broome had three RBI and two hits while Kieley Hughes and Parker added two hits and two RBI apiece.
In a losers-bracket game, Danita Kantaskas threw a three-hitter and had a double to lift Meadowlawn past Northeast 12-2. Jessica Roberts, Suzzette Bernardo, Kathy Havens, Cassie Hawkins and Stacy Abel supplied key hits.
