Snook season is closed, but what about pacu? A native of South American lakes and rivers, the pacu is a vegetarian relative of the meat-eating piranha. But somehow (probably by release from a local aquarium owner who decided the fish had outgrown its glass home) this 22-pounder ended up on the business end of St. Petersburg angler Lutrell Evans' line as he fished in a Clearwater pond Wednesday. "I was just sitting there, cooling out," said Evans, who fishes several times a week in both fresh- and saltwater. "It tore my rod holder right out of the ground. I thought snook were tough. (But) there's no comparison." Evans plans to have the fish mounted.
