Presence, an exhibition of recent paintings by Gary Sprick, is on display at the Centre Gallery, University of South Florida, through July 2.
Painting is a second career for Sprick, 33, who retired as a physician two years ago. He plans to begin graduate studies in painting at South Florida this fall.
A reception will be held on Friday between 7 and 9 p.m.

New College holds graduation
New College of the University of South Florida in Sarasota graduated 106 students, including four from Tampa, in ceremonies that took place May 21 at Cook Hall in Sarasota.
The area students are Libby Bailey, fine arts; Thomas H. Cook, international relations/economics; Amanda Jordan Margaret Henry, literature; and Michael William Smith, psychology and sociology.
Dr. Larry Dwight Shinn, vice president for academic affairs at Bucknell University, delivered the commencement address.
New College of USF is the honors college of the State University System of Florida. It is a residential liberal arts college whose 500 students come from throughout Florida and the nation. Students do extensive research and writing in small seminars and individual tutorials, working closely with faculty.
