Central Florida Community College is offering two opportunities to explore the artistic, historical and cultural foundations of Western civilization during a summer travel-study trip to Spain.
Interested people may choose between two plans. The university program runs July 6-29. The cost of $2,495 includes air fare via Iberia Airlines, health and accident insurance, lodging in a student dormitory at Madrid's University City and three meals a day in the dormitory's dining room. In addition, one-day excursions to El Escorial and Valley of the Fallen, Toledo, Avila, Segovia and Salamanca are planned.
The University Plus program, which runs June 29 through July 29 includes everything in the University Program, plus one week in first-class beachfront apartments at the Costa Del Sol. While there, participants will travel to Sevilla, site of the 1992 World's Fair, and to Granada, the home of the Alhambra, a famous Moorish palace.
Students may choose from classes in beginning-level to advanced-level Spanish and an English-language course in Spanish Culture and Civilization. CFCC offers academic credit for these courses.
Extensive sightseeing, other special activities, lecture, seminar visits and presentations by American and European university professors, concerts, museums and discotheque trips also are on the agenda.
Dr. Orlando Moreno, dean of communications and fine arts, will accompany the study group. The group is open to high school and college students and adults. Dual enrollment students and teachers needing recertification also are welcome.
