PASS is a computerized directory of small businesses interested in attaining business with the federal government. The directory contains information concerning the company's size, ownership and capabilities. Gross named year's best boss
The Palm Chapter of the American Business Women's Association named Linda Gross as the 1993 Boss of the Year. Gross is an assistant patient care coordinator for Hernando-Pasco Hospice, and is responsible for the supervision of nursing and home health care for Hernando County's terminally ill patients in their homes. She was selected from more than 200 Hernando-Pasco Hospice employees as the 1988 Employee of the Year. Gross has volunteered with the American Red Cross and has served as the nurse at the recent Hospice Bereavement Camp for children and the Camp Daniel Boon, a Boy Scout camp for 500 boys in Nashville, N.C.
ABWA business awards given
The Tangerine Chapter of the American Business Women's Association chose Harry Timmons, a real estate agent with Re-Max Masters Realty, as the business associate of the year. Timmons was chosen for his career accomplishments and community involvement. Also announced at the June 15 Business Associate Dinner were Donna Higgenbothan as member of the year, Jean Casey as rookie of the year and Donna Cronwell as woman of the year.
Richard Furr-Cox was chosen as the June employee of the month at Evergreen Woods. Furr-Cox began working as a cook at Evergreen Woods in February 1992. He was chosen for his outstanding attendance record and his willingness to help the residents.
Deborah Burns of Hernando Beach was chosen as the June employee of the month at the St. Luke's Eye Institute in Tarpon Springs, where she has worked as a nurse for 10 years. She received a $50 gift certificate and the privileged parking space at the institute. Burns was chosen from among 300 employees.
Dr. Joseph D. Barta, a Spring Hill podiatric physician, attended the Florida Podiatric Medical Association annual meeting in Tampa earlier this month. The three-day meeting featured postgraduate medical education courses on the latest techniques and procedures for the treatment of foot disorders. More than 50 exhibitors demonstrated the latest technology available for podiatric physicians. Dr. Barth's assistants, Barbara Garti and Saundra Marsh-Piercy, attended a session for podiatric assistants. Dr. Barta's office is at 5363-A Commercial Way, Spring Hill. He has practiced in Spring Hill since 1987 and specializes in diabetic foot care, circulatory disorders, complete family foot care, sports medicine and in-care and hospital surgery.
