DIXIE HOLLINS WINS

For the seventh consecutive year, the Dixie Hollins Junior ROTC Rifle Team won the 1993 State Championship event at the University of Florida. Cadet Sgt. Tabitha Binney came in second; Cadet 2nd Lt. Brian Day came in third; and Cadet Sgt. 1st Class Richard Wilson also competed. In Pinellas County competition in February at Admiral Farragut Academy, the Dixie Hollins team placed first overall and Dixie Hollins Cadet Maj. William Ballo took first-place in individual competition. The team also placed first in district competition at the University of Tampa; Ballo came in second; and Cadet Capt. David Messenger came in third. Team coach is Lt. Col. Charles Patton. 546-2411.

BOCA CEIGA LEADERS: Barbara Paonessa, principal of Boca Ciega High School, recognized 15 student leaders May 19 at the Principal's Leadership Awards Breakfast. Class/club sponsors or coaches nominated the students for demonstrating leadership through participation in extracurricular activities. Students who were honored are Christopher Allen, Stephanie Blomberg, Alex Chatman, India Davis, Christina Foucault, Amy Hoffman, Susan Inman, Joy Lawson, Chara Monroe, Randy Najera, Jennifer Paterson-Zinkand, Trisha Rinard, Oscar Robinson, Trish Tomas and Crystal Worlds.
