Drum and bugle competition

The Suncoast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps is hosting "Bugles on the Suncoast," a competition, at 7 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain High School Stadium, 9401 N Boulevard.

The program is a contest of drum corps from at least six states, including Star of Indiana, Carolina Crown, Spirit of Georgia, Southwind and Delta Brigade. Representing Florida are Magic of Orlando, Heat Wave and host Suncoast Sound.

General admission to the contest is $10. Tickets are available at the stadium. For advance seating, call 546-1956.

Furman University graduates

Ana P. Garin and Scott D. Roy graduated May 29 from Furman University, Greenville, S.C.

South Carolina Lt. Gov. Nick Theodore was the commencement speaker.

Garin, a psychology major, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Eduardo Garin. Roy, a business administration major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Roy.
