A woman wanted by Tennessee officials in the murder and armed robbery of a convenience store clerk was arrested Monday in Pasco County.
Donna Jane Sexton, 22, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., was being held Monday night on a first-degree charge at West Pasco Detention Center until Tennessee officials can pick her up.
Deputy Danny Pike of the Carter County, Tenn., Sheriff's Office said Sexton has relatives in Pasco. During her arrest processing, she listed Florida as her place of birth.
Pike said Sexton is the girlfriend of 25-year-old William Matney Putman, whom Pasco sheriff's officials picked up last week on a first-degree murder warrant in the same case.
Pike said the couple is accused of robbing a convenience store in Elizabethton, a city of about 80,000 in northeast Tennessee on June 14. They allegedly took $1,700 from the cash drawer, stabbed the woman clerk seven times and slit her throat before leaving her to bleed to death. Store employees found the body the next morning in the store's back room, he said.
The couple also allegedly tried to rob a man in his home, but fled when he yelled to his wife to call police, Pike said.
