An 18-year-old has been sentenced to two years at a farm program in a drunken-driving accident that killed two teenagers.
Charles Dault was sentenced Tuesday to two years in the Manatee County Sheriff's Office's farm program at the Port Manatee Stockade followed by drug rehabilitation and 13 years probation.
He pleaded guilty last month to two counts of DUI-manslaughter in the deaths of his girlfriend, Reagan Manson, 15, and Lindsay Crawford, 14, on April 28, 1992. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of DUI with serious bodily injury and another count of DUI with less serious bodily injury.
Circuit Judge Durand Adams said he considered sentencing Dault to 10 years in prison. Because of the state's early release program, he imposed a sentence he felt would make Dault spend more jail time.
Dault, Manson, Crawford and Raina Breslauer skipped classes to go out drinking. Dault lost control of a truck and crashed head-on into a car in Holmes Beach. Dault and Breslauer were seriously injured.
