Junior shortstop Kurt Bultmann had three hits, including two doubles to lift Seminole past Countryside 6-3 in the opening baseball game of the Pinellas County Athletic Conference season.
The defending PCAC champion Warhawks (6-0, 1-0) and county favorite Cougars (4-2, 0-1) battled to a scoreless tie before Seminole scored two runs in the third inning around a couple of hits by junior third baseman Gary Fecarotta and outfielder Jeff McAvaddy. But Countryside came back and took the lead in the bottom half of the inning behind senior Trey Ciccotti's three-run blast.
Ciccotti's first home run of the season was set up after outfielder Chris Cavins drew a walk and Jason Smith had singled off winning pitcher Ryan Snellings (3-0). After that homer, however, Snellings settled down to throw his third complete game of the season.
