Joe Gibbs, saying he has not done all the things he set out to do when he left the Washington Redskins almost a year ago, stunned the Carolina Panthers by informing the expansion National Football League team that he has decided against coaching again, at least for now.
Gibbs told Panthers owner Jerry Richardson of his decision during a meeting in Charlotte on Thursday, The Washington Post reported.
"I'm just not ready to coach again," he said. "I'd been contacted by quite a few teams, but I'd narrowed things down to the point that if I was going to coach, it would be in Charlotte. It looked like a perfect job, and it's going to be perfect for someone. But the more I thought about it, I'm just not ready to go back to it."
