BUTLER, HELEN R., 76, of Crystal River, died Wednesday (Feb. 23, 1994). Born in Pike County, Pa., she came here 33 years ago from Watchung, N.J. She was a retired clerk for the Homosassa Springs attraction gift shop and a Lutheran. Survivors include a brother, Michael Brumm Jr., Whiting, N.J.; and a sister, Katherine Saracen, Whiting. DRISCOLL, KATHERINE R., 79, of Auburn, Maine, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994) at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. Born in Lewiston, Maine, she was a winter resident of Hernando. She was a retired shoe repair skiver and stitcher and a Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Jeremiah B. "Jerry"; two sons, Wallace R., Lewiston, and Thomas B., Hernando; a daughter, Constance Plourde, Lewiston; a brother, "James" Wallace Rolph, Lewiston; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. ELSTON, VERL MADISON, 95, of Inverness, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994). Born in White County, Ind., he came here 11 years ago from Monon, Ind. He was a retired farmer, a member of Modern Woodsmen of America, and a Protestant. Survivors include a daughter, Mable Ramsey, Inverness; two brothers, Robert, Auburndale, and Roscoe, Sebring; a sister, Myrtle Christopher, Inverness; three grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. HALL, JEWEL J., 75, of Brooksville, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994) at Brooksville Regional Hospital. She came here five years ago from her native Homestead. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Brooksville. Survivors include her husband, Instant H.; a daughter, Julie Eldemire, Tampa; and two sisters, Elsie Sauls and Gladys Hill, both of South Miami. Brewer Memorial Funeral Home, Brooksville.

JENKINS, DANIEL, 80, of Crystal River, died Wednesday (Feb. 23, 1994) at Shands Hospital, Gainesville. He came here 78 years ago from his native Hernando. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Crystal River Masonic Lodge 156, and Bethel AME Church, Crystal River. Survivors include his wife, Willie Lee; a son, Alvin, Crystal River; a daughter, Dannye Williams, Titusville; a brother, Nehemiah, Crystal River; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. McHONE, SHIRLEY L., 57, of Brooksville, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994) at HCA Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Fourmile, Ky., she came here three years ago from Monroe, Mich. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Monroe, and the American Red Cross. Survivors include a daughter, Harbertta Patterson, Monroe; a brother, Jerry Lockard, Brooksville; two sisters, Jane Schetz, Monroe, and Mary Clawson, Brooksville; and a grandson. McKOWN, DORTHY L., 73, of Timber Pines, Spring Hill, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994). Born in Sebring, Ohio, she came here 14 years ago from Solon, Ohio. She was a retired store detective and a Protestant. Survivors include a son, Jon, Aurora, Ohio; a daughter, Deborah Greenstein, Mountain View, Calif.; and two grandchildren. PATRICK, LINDSEY WINTON SR., 69, of Homosassa, died Saturday (Feb. 12, 1994). Born in Crestville, N.C., he came here 22 years ago from Elizabeth City, N.C. He was a retired landscaper and a member of First Baptist Church, Old Homosassa. Survivors include two sons, Lindsey Winton Jr., Virginia Beach, Va., and Wayne Morris; and a brother, Sam, Crestville. ROGERS, HUGH SKELDING "BUCK," 78, of Inverness, died Wednesday (Feb. 23, 1994). Born in Covington, Va., he came here 22 years ago from Tokyo. He was a retired airline pilot and a Presbyterian. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a past master and member of Citrus Masonic Lodge 118 F&AM, the Ocala Scottish Rite, the Egypt Temple Shrine, Tampa, and the Citrus Shrine Club. SMITH, SAMUEL J. "SAM," 76, of Timber Pines, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994) at home. Born in Tuckahoe, N.Y., he came here eight years ago from White Plains, N.Y. He was the owner/operator of a service station in White Plains, an Army veteran, and an Episcopalian. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Patricia Heanue, Larchmont, N.Y., and Kathleen Heinbuch, Huntsville, Ala.; six sisters, Edith Reade, Miami, Amy Yucaneer, White Plains, Emily Dickson, Mount Kisco, N.Y., Bette Fairbrother, Miami, Dorothy Archer, Katonah, N.Y., and Marjorie Spencer, Cape Carteret, N.C.; and six grandchildren. VEGA, MANUEL, 86, of Brooksville, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994) at Brooksville Regional Hospital. Born in Tampa, he came here eight years ago from Houston. He was the retired owner/operator of a machine manufacturing company. Survivors include a son, Bruce, Chelsea, Mass.; a daughter, Anita Grant, Houston; five sisters, Grace Sacre, Tampa, and Alice Sacre, Marinna Rego, Carman Stemeke, and Louisa Morgado, all of Homosassa; and two grandchildren.
