A 15-year-old boy at Hernando High School was arrested earlier this week and accused of bringing a semiautomatic Ruger handgun to school. In an unrelated incident the same day, a 14-year-old student at West Hernando Middle School was charged with aggravated battery and possession of a weapon at school after he allegedly cut another student with a knife. The wound was not serious and did not require stitches. Both of the accused students were expected to face disciplinary action at their respective schools.
