Today's topic: Adopt a pet

Since Oct. 6, 631 animals have been adopted from Citrus County Animal Control, 23 during the week ending Feb. 23. Today's featured pet is Trixie, a 12-month-old female, salt and pepper miniature schnauzer. Included among the many other animals available for adoption is a 4-year-old male, red chow chow mix; a 12-month-old female, gray merle, Australian shepherd mix; a 2-year-old neutered male, Belgian terrier mix; a 2-year-old male, chow chow mix; a 3-month-old male, black Labrador retriever; and a 10-month-old female schnauzer mix. Among the cats available for adoption are Puzzle, a calico, female domestic shorthair; Stormy, a male, gray and white, domestic shorthair; and Maxine, a female, gray and white domestic shorthair. A large number of kittens and older cats are also available for adoption. The shelter is located at the end of Airport Road in Inverness. Normal shelter adoption and claim hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 726-7660.
