THE HIDDEN CHILDREN, by Howard Greenfeld, Ticknor & Fields, Books for Young Readers, $15.95.
Greenfeld's book is an excellent way to introduce young readers to the story of the Holocaust. He interviews 13 Jewish men and women who as children during World War II were sent away from their homes to hide from the Nazis. Among them are several teachers, two psychologists, a dentist, a civil engineer and a scientist who won the Nobel prize in chemistry.
As Rosette Goldstein tells him: "We have to talk. We are the last ones. After us, there's nobody. And there are too many people out there who are trying to say that the Holocaust didn't happen. Isn't that something?"
