Girls State selection scheduled for March 8

Kathy Lambert, Girls State chairwoman of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dade City, announced that the Girls State selection process will be at 3:30 p.m. March 8 at the American Legion Center, 105 E Church St., Dade City.

The Girls State session is June 10-17 at Florida State University in Tallahassee. The local Unit 15 Auxiliary pays for room and board; transportation from Leesburg is by chartered bus. Eleventh-grade girls are eligible. For information on qualifications, call Lambert, (904) 567-3721.

Belinda Smith of Pasco Comprehensive High School, was last year's delegate and was elected State Attorney General.

Family of winners

Clint Malone, son of Kim and Mona Malone, displays the blue ribbon he won in the lead line class at the Florida State Fair mule show. His mother's mule, Sammy, was a winner in the show, too.
