Jackson abruptly ended her Salt Lake City concert Saturday night after becoming ill in the middle of her song, Throb. She was taken to a hospital emergency room, treated for "flulike symptoms and dehydration" and released two hours later, a hospital spokesman said. The singer had been performing before a sold-out crowd of 16,000 for about 40 minutes when she stopped singing, leaned over, winced and walked backstage.
A concert scheduled for Sunday night also was canceled.
"Jackson . . . has been suffering from the flu," said her tour manager, Marty Hom. "She is extremely sorry to disappoint her fans and deeply regrets any inconvenience that these postponements have caused."
