A 19-year-old man was killed early Sunday when his car hit a concrete wall, Tampa police said. The man, whose name was not released Sunday pending notification of relatives, was driving on Columbus Drive at Tampania Avenue about 1:15 a.m. when he lost control of his 1982 Datsun, police said. The right side of the car struck a concrete wall, the car vaulted into the air and flipped onto its roof. The man was thrown through the closed passenger window and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. There were no passengers.
Truck flips; driver gets head injuries
TAMPA _ A 49-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after the truck he was driving flipped Sunday morning, Tampa police said. Michael L. South of Plant City was driving on Eisenhower Boulevard near the Courtney Campbell Parkway about 4:30 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of the truck, police said. The trailer flipped and dumped construction materials onto the road. Eisenhower Boulevard was closed briefly while the debris was cleared from the road, police said. The man was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he was listed in serious condition Sunday, police said.
Suspect held in girl's sexual battery
PINELLAS PARK_ A 33-year-old man was being held Sunday in lieu of $200,000 bail in connection with a sexual battery on a 7-year-old girl in October. Robert Harold Lecain of 4516 73rd Ave. N was booked into Pinellas County jail Sunday morning. He faces two counts of sexual battery.
