Dr. Hook arrested on drug charge

Dr. Hook, whose real name is Ray Sawyer, was arrested Saturday and charged with possession of marijuana. Police said they found the pot in Sawyer's Cactus Pete hotel room after receiving complaints that his band openly used drugs. Sawyer, 57, was released on $2,500 bail.

Charges of assault and vandalism were filed Monday against actor Jack Nicholson over an alleged attack on a motorist in Hollywood Feb. 8

MCA Records is suing the former Eagle Glenn Frey for flying the coop on a six-record contract. Frey delivered only enough recordings for two albums, MCA said. The suit seeks $5-million.

Comedian Garrett Morris, one of the original Saturday Night Live cast, was in serious but stable condition Monday in Los Angeles after having a bullet removed from near his spine following a botched holdup attempt. He is expected to remain in the hospital for about two weeks. Morris, who co-stars in the Fox sitcom Martin, was shot by assailants Thursday.

Yes, David, you can go home again. David Letterman returned Monday to NBC's Studio 6A, only this time he was a guest on his old show, now known as Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Letterman's old Late Night theme music welcomed him back onstage for his first official visit to the set where he spent 11 years as Late Night host before moving crosstown to CBS. "I love what you've done with the place," a relaxed Letterman told O'Brien. Letterman was effusive in his praise of O'Brien and the new Late Night.
