Steve Athanassie, a certified financial planner in the Clearwater office of IDS Financial Services at 18167 U.S. 19 N, has been named to the company's gold team. Team members are authorized to provide an expanded scope of personal, comprehensive financial planning to clients. Selection is based on experience, professional designations and commitment.


James L. Wasenda has been named marketing director of Medfield Hospital, 12891 Seminole Blvd., Largo. He will be responsible for marketing activities at the 64-bed psychiatric facility and its community resource centers. Wasenda has worked in the mental health field for nine years and has been at Medfield for five years. He has a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of South Florida.

Cheri Wilson, R.N., has been named director of professional services of Home Care of Florida, Clearwater branch. She will manage and provide professional direction for the therapeutic services staff. Home Care is an extension of Clearwater Community Hospital, 1521 E Druid Road.


Andrea Nixon has joined Swett Insurance Managers at 18167 U.S. 19 N, Clearwater, as a senior package underwriter. She is an 18-year veteran of the insurance business and is a graduate of the University of West Florida. Most recently, she was a senior field underwriter at Atlantic Mutual in Tampa.


Hairdresser on Fire hair salon has opened at 24 N Fort Harrison Ave., Clearwater. Owner and operator Teri Eden said the shop features vintage clothing, as well as herbal facials and scalp conditioning massages and equipment from the 1950s to the 1970s.


Bernard Y. Cockrell has completed the necessary course work and has been granted use of the professional designation, GRI (graduate, Realtor Institute) by the Florida Association of Realtors. Cockrell is a Realtor at Marie Powell & Associates, Realtors, 7815 Seminole Blvd., Seminole.

Jo-Ann Westafer recently received the Coldwell Banker President's Club award. The award is given to sales associates who have achieved a specific level of earnings or who have closed 34 units during the calendar year or both. She works at the office at 1724 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd., Clearwater.
