A company that has pushed services based on fees rather than commissions for years now is expanding into an insurance venture allowing buyers to skip the agent.
Fee For Service Inc. unveils in New York next week its Wholesale Insurance Network subsidiary. It provides a toll-free national telephone and fax service offering access to information and applications for insurance policies.
Callers who know costs and coverage for the policy they want are sent quotes and applications from at least two of the companies whose products are marketed by Fee For Service.
Those needing advice would be referred to insurance advisers who sell products for a fee.
The Tampa-based company began in 1984 offering Ameritas products. Since then it has expanded to include products from John Alden, Security Benefit, Federal Home Life, GreatWest Life, Southland Life, Commonwealth, People's Security, Kentucky Home Mutual and Life of the Southwest.
