CR 486-U.S. 41 intersection to grow

Published March 3, 1994|Updated Oct. 6, 2005

Work will begin soon to widen the intersection of County Road 486 and U.S. 41. The road will include four lanes with turn lanes about 1,000 feet to the north and south of the intersection and 600 feet east and west. The County Commission on Tuesday awarded the contract to Grubbs Construction Co., which submitted the lowest bid of $821,027. Most of that will come from impact fees, although the commission had to transfer about $120,000 from road and drainage funds for the project. The work also will improve drainage. The project was not on the state Department of Transportation's five-year plan, and the county will not be reimbursed for the expense.
