Heat: Forward Glen Rice was signed to a multi-year contract extension. The Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale reported the contract would be for five years at an estimated $4.3-million per season.

Bullets: Guard Rex Chapman was activated and rookie Calbert Cheaney was placed on the injured list. Chapman was placed on the injured list Jan. 27, 10 days after he dislocated his ankle against the San Antonio Spurs. Cheaney tore a tendon against New Jersey on Feb. 20. He has not played since.

Celtics: Forward Alaa Abdelnaby is expected to be out at least three weeks after spraining his left ankle Wednesday.

Hawks: General manager Pete Babcock signed a new multi-year deal. Terms were not revealed.
