The whimsical musical Brigadoon is being produced by members of Center Stage Players in Dade City March 11-13 and 18-20.
The two-act play, with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, tells the story of two American hunters, Tommy Albright (played by Darrell Williams) and Jess Douglass (John Touchton), who go to Scotland and stumble into a strange village that seems to belong to an earlier era. Tommy falls in love with Fiona MacLaren (Ava Larkin) and Jess becomes infatuated with Meg Brockie (Jennifer Toll).
Then the two men discover that the village is enchanted and only comes to life one day in each century. They flee, but Tommy is heartbroken over his separation from Fiona. Of course, a miracle happens and all ends well.
The Center Stage presentation will feature 18 singers and six dancers, as well as a bagpipe player in a kilt. Heidi Toll directs, Theresa C. Parks is stage manager and Gerry Austin is producer.
