Cardinals trainer offers help to Yorkie and doctor

A member of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team has stepped up to bat on behalf of the little Yorkshire terrier featured in Wednesday's City Times. Gene Gieselmann, head trainer for the Cardinals, has volunteered to reimburse Dr. Frank Mills II and Pasadena Veterinary Hospital for expenses in helping save the Yorkie's life.Mills said that medication and other treatment provided by the hospital will total $448. He said the hospital welcomed Gieselmann's offer to contribute to the expenses, and he said he will absorb half of the cost of the treatment. On Thursday, the 4{-pound Yorkie was transferred to the SPCA of St. Petersburg, which is trying to find a home to meet the animal's special needs.
