Churches to observe World Prayer Day

Local churches will participate in several activities today as part of the international World Day of Prayer celebration.

World Day of Prayer is a day on which millions of Christians join in "informed prayer and prayerful action." This year Christian women of Palestine wrote the service based on the theme "Go, See and Act," emphasizing the need for ending human suffering and achieving peace for everyone in the Middle East.

All money collected from the World Day of Prayer in the United States will be distributed by Church Women United for the organization's programs, including grants in many areas of the world for programs that help women.
