Rep. Rudolph Bradley became the newest member of the Florida Legislature on Thursday just in time to vote on important legislation.
"The good news is you arrived on the right day because you get to vote on a $38-billion budget," said Speaker-designate Peter Wallace, D-St. Petersburg. "The bad news is you have only 38 minutes to read it."
Bradley was elected Tuesday to fill the seat that became vacant when Doug Jamerson was appointed education commissioner. "His shoes, I must say, will be tough to fill," said Bradley, who was accompanied by his wife, Terrye, and two of his four children.
Also attending was state Corrections Secretary Harry Singletary, the brother of Bradley's wife. Bradley was assigned to Commerce, Governmental Operations and Education committees.
