Sawing and sanding away

Every Monday and Wednesday evening at Clearwater High School, adults get to play in the wood shop. They make furniture or decorative boxes or turn wooden bowls on a lathe during their three-hour class, using tools they might not have room for at home. Right, Louis Discenza uses a band saw to cut a board for furniture. Above, Ned Frisbie sands a maple bowl he made on a lathe. Below, instructor Dan Bumgarner, at right, helps Frisbie trim a piece of maple for another bowl.
