Susan Duval will be the next principal at Springstead High School. Duval, an assistant principal at the school's ninth-grade center, was chosen for the job this week. With Duval's appointment, the district, for the first time, will have women principals at all three high schools. Elaine Sullivan is at Hernando High School; Carolyn Forbis at Central. The search for Duval's replacement will begin immediately, according to Wendy Tellone, assistant superintendent of human resources. Duval, whose appointment still must be approved by the School Board, is scheduled to begin her new duties April 11. Duval has been second-in-command at Springstead West for a year. Before that, she had been an assistant principal at five district schools since 1980. She replaces Richard Fauble. He is leaving Springstead to head the district's newest elementary school, which will open in Seven Hills this fall.
Virginia Jackson, director of the Hernando Heritage Museum, donated gloves and a business card to the Brewer Time Capsule during last weekend's Heritage Days festival. A story on Sunday credited someone else.
