A former police officer was arrested and charged with fatally shooting a prostitute who helped end his law enforcement career.

Adrian Cohen, fired from the Delray Beach Police Department last year, is charged with killing Theresa Halsey, 29. She was found shot to death outside her home Feb. 20.

Investigators said she had been shot six times, including one point-blank shot in the head.

Cohen's fingerprints were found on the door of the truck where Halsey was found dead. A bullet casing in the truck matched those from a 9mm gun Cohen owned, police said.

Cohen was charged with first-degree murder and held without bail Friday in the Palm Beach County Jail. Three Delray Beach police officers resigned or lost their jobs after Halsey told authorities they were using drugs or tried to engage in sex.
