POINTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

A 16-foot bronze statue captures the spirit of Elrey B. Jeppesen, an aviator who 60 years ago pioneered aerial-navigation maps now used around the world. The statue was dedicated five weeks ago at the Jeppesen Terminal of the striking Denver International Airport, near his company headquarters. The huge facility was originally scheduled to open last October, and then again this coming week. But problems with the revolutionary baggage-handling system caused officials to postpone DIA's opening yet again _ to mid-May.
